GORE-TEX being waterproof, windproof and breathable is the best choice for the great outdoors and also practical for everyday use as well. Barbour jackets last forever and are easily repaired and re-waxed when the need arises. bombproof. I often borrow my Mum's 23-year-old Barbour jacket for horse riding, as it is more practically designed and generously cut for ease of movement, thus more suitable for the purpose than my North Face GORE-TEX jacket is.
