historybuff Posted August 17, 2013 Share Posted August 17, 2013 Had my hopes raised when I heard a rumour that John Lewis were to take the building over. Hopes dashed, however, on seeing the "For lease or for sale" signs in the windows. Shopping in Chesterfield has now become very fragmented. I can't be bothered to make the journey to Debenhams and/or B&Q and the like. I do hope the ex-Co-op doesn't become another el cheapo. I think we have enough. They aren't happy with their store on the old Focus site, as it's prone to flooding and the area has lots of rats. Personally I would like it to be a high class Department store such as Harrods or Harvey Nicholls.
