coppernut
At the public meeting last week the company say they are estimating that 500-600 vehicles an hour will use the service station facilities. A proportion of which will be HGVs (i think they said approx 8%). The work is due to start early next year at the same time that recycoal will be extracting the coal - another 60 HGVs. Also there are plans for a 4th lane on the motorway in the area. You will be lucky to get into Chapeltown, particularly as there is often a queue all the way back to Nether Lane at rush hour. They are going to adapt the exit from the motorway - the entrance will be where the cars park now on the left hand side. Vehicles will also have to get across Cowley Hill to exit the services. Then of course there is HS2. JOY!
liam1412
A twenty minute gap is not excessive! It is if you suddenly getting a warning light or your little darling decides they need to pee after just passing the last services like they usually do! Bruno
No need for one, if the argument is just for toilets, then just build a toilet block.

No User Name
Ridiculous. Not needed. Studies have obviously shown that it is. Go and visit every service station between the one just south of Sheffield and London. One almost every 15 miles. Look at how many people are using them and then report back with your findings. Johnnybrew
At the exhibition last Saturday, at Ecclesfield School, it was mentioned that the motorway roundabout would be altered to include traffic lights. This would include signals to allow vehicles to leave the service area and get back on to the main road.
geared
So not content with stuffing the service station down the residents throats they also want to stuff up the roundabout? Why not, they did an excellent job with the one at J36 - wasn't like I was sat there this morning staring at a red light while not a single car went past the other set on green.
