Is weed really bad for you??

Recommended Posts

Weed is less harmful than fags and booze. Fags and booze is legal, weed is not.

Its only less harmfull because fewer people use it. If it was marketed by large companies and smoked for year after year; only then would it be more harmfull then todays choice drugs.

I disagree. Its a moot point anyway as its never going to be legal. Not in my life time anyway.

It would be a difficult issue to find real facts, I dont know anyone that uses weed. Just basing my beliefs on what I have seen in the media.

It wants banning, it stinks.:gag:

A: i hate the smell of paint it gives me headache, so does perfume and aftershave etc when people put far too much on, but thats just personal preference

B: as for your comment on banning :suspect: , its illegal, its as banned as you can get LOOOL

I agree it would be difficult, and expensive. I look at this way though, if it was that harmful how come its available (allbeit for a tiny minority of conditions) on prescription?

Did you watch BBC This World last night, "America's Stoned Kids"?

The closest I've come to being moved off my legalise-it position. There are some awful things happening with the commercialisation of the drug. A chocolate truffle containing enough THC to leave you stoned for the entire day. The world doesn't need canaboids concentrated into such quantaties - in one sweet. A single drink equivalent to six joints. These aren't good things.

There was also a group of kids in rehab, but their problems came from smoking it at a young age, and smoking it far too much.

I've always used a comparison with alcohol. A bit at the weekend with friends, no harm. Monday morning for breakfast, a problem.

Equally, my other point is true. Prohibition doesn't work either. Problems still exist when it is illegal. However it has moved me a little.

There was a similar problem when alcopops and vodka jellies first became commercially available. As with any drug, abuse it and there will be a price to pay

There was a good documentary about it, on BBC2, here's the link to it on iPlayer:

One lady (at 22 minutes in) was saying there have been studies of cannabis use, which suggest it can knock 6 to 8 points off your IQ score. Presumably it kind of dulls the brain?

I completely think it should be legalised though, and more studies done, with accurate (not agenda driven) information available to the public regarding it's effects.

For me, I've tried it (a *lot* more than once), and over a long-ish period of time, found there were a lot of significant drawbacks / harmful effects.

Does it mention anything about crime rates? Or is it too early to say? Ive just tried watching it kn tablet, but everytime I get a message or email it cuts the sound, so ill watch it later on computer.
