Isha, I was sorry to hear of your Grandfather's death; however, yes we just chucked it in - well Brian the "lets get round it cheaply" guy he is knew damn well, that he had to cough up for a "professional" and said: "Oh no, you just chuck it in with the rest of the rubbish" (Garden waste, earth - convinently placed on top of the aspestos! and paving slabs). Another quick example of one of his "do it on the cheap schemes" was his windows had aspestos as the facia boards - oh well, I'll paint it....... no will ever know! Tony
I imagine it was asbestos cement, in which case there is no excuse because you can bag it and take it to your local tip (within reason) as a householder. Anyway, more usefully, Sheffield Recycling 0114 272 9140.
jubby
Anyone know of cheap skip hire. It's to get rid of Green waste. And before anyone suggest taking it to the dumpit site, I'm only 1/2 way through doing the hedge and the pile is up to our window. Its too green for the wood shreeder so need a skip. On a very tight budget so need it cheap but reliable. (a mini skip should be fine) Jubby

MarkEMark
Anyone know the best place to hire a skip from and how much it costs? I've got a cellar full of rubbish and I need to clear it out sometime soon. Probably need a fair sized skip...
RoyalRegular
If you look in the Star wantads, there's people that'll come and take it all away for you, and probably cheaper than hiring a skip. I had a guy come and clear away a load of garden/building rubbish. It took him 2 hours and he charged me £25.

Maybe you got the deal of the century, but I can't see how you will get 2 hours work and a truck and tipping at a licenced tip (instead of the side of the road) for £25. Flytipping? rinty
Mr Rubble is very good. £120 for an 8 tonne skip and they are low sided which make them easier to load. http://www.mrrubble.co.uk

And he will of Fly tipped it back of MFI or waste ground at a dark side street in the east end, I think. Minimum charge for skips/waste services to tip is £47 (inc vat) I know, cos thats my job:mad:
