And if they don't?

The government can't win on this one. Either they don't go in, and we end up with another holocaust, or we do go in, and people call them warmongers and say there was no need.

Rwanda, dafour, are just two instances of genocide we didn't feel the need to get involved, and we turned up to the balkans too late for thousands. There have been countless civil wars with some very nasty incedents like Sri Lanka - we didn't even boycott their cricket team. I'm done watching our soldiers coming back in bags or with missing limbs, and watching our national bank balance drop further into the red.

Make the right noises, but let someone else sort it.

That's where the danger lies.

Agreed, and the Arab countries have been quiet on this which makes me wonder what their stance is and if they really care. Maybe they would be quite happy to see a stand-off between the US/UK and Russia/China:suspect:

Hear, Hear.

You don't see the Germans, French, Spanish or anyone else jumping in with both feet.

We're a tiny country, why should we be getting involved all the sodding time???

I'm sick of it, save the bullets and the bombs for the Argentinians and let someone else deal with the problem.

The Germans don't get involved for obvious reasons.

The Blair administration's willingness to start wars based on faked or non-existent "evidence" hasn't helped.

Weapons of Mass Destruction? Non-existent.

Saddam's ties with 9/11? Non-existent.

45 minute claim? Bogus.

The BBC got into trouble for accurately reporting this blatant hucksterism. And yet, 10 years later, what's changed? Dr. David Kelly is still dead while the lying weasel Blair is now a multi- multi-millionaire.

Wake up chumps! You've been had!

And yet there are doubtless still plenty of people who believe that "our boys" are bravely shooting 8 year old girls all in the name of freedom.

Makes yer proud doesn't it?

It distracts attention away from current issues

Surely the term is smokescreen or fig leaf?

Perhaps thats a problem that needs addressing then, rather than just going about doing what we please maybe we should fix the broken system that is supposed to be protecting people?

Yes let's have discussions about discussions while people continue to be gassed.
