Well that's just wonderful. No more lap dog and all the world is throwing up it's hands in horror at the use of chemical weapons yet no one wants to do the dirty work except for the US and you say Obama's dithering and you maybe think he should get the heck in there and do something and perhaps that might stop the use of chemical weapons and you'll be happy that something was done and there wasn't any more lap dog time so that's just wonderful but if Assad does continue to use chemical weapons later on something more will have to be done about it but there wont be any lap dog time either so that's just wonderful too but Obama should get the heck in there again and do something about it and when he does that will be even more wonderful because there wont be no more lap dog time and so on and so on blah! blah! blah1

I doubt they would be dumb enough to do that - I am sure they are well aware not long after our submarines will launch an all out nuclear strike in retaliation.

That would also take out all of Jordan and the Palestinia territories as well.

No more peace summits for Obama to work on and one less job on his to do list

I think we give all the aid we can and we the un should build a wall around the displaced women and children, take down the names of the rebels that want to fight and the soldiers of assad and let them have a big fist fight instead of missiles gas and bullets. Whoever wins has to escort the losers to the desert where they will set up home, and live in peace praying to muhammed

Moscow claims to have detected two missile launches this morning (07:16 GMT). Missiles reported to have launched from central Med, then sea-splashed in eastern Med. Unconfirmed by any other source so far, and a 'not us' denial issued by US.

I hope it was an attempted surprise strike by France that went wrong, that would be funny.

I heard some military experts on the radio the other day saying that Syria is actually quite capable of defending itself from the type of missile system France has.

But not after America has taken out the things that Syria has to defend against the missiles France has.

I wonder if it is all a ploy. It might be that the Western leaders are being quite smart here.

Let's face it. This a a bunch of Arabs bumping one another off. Most folk want to let them get on with it, but the west needs to be seen to be doing what it can.

Cameron pretty much made sure the UK keeps out of it, and rather than loosing face it seems that those who didn't support him are now having second thoughts. But of course it's too late. Perhaps Obama is doing the same. The whole region is unstable. One lot of muslim nuts bumping off the other and drawing in the miltants to the meat grinder.

Let em get on with it. There will be no gratitude if we did put western lives on the line to help out.

It puts me in mind of the Spanish Civil War. If anyone here is upset about Egypt, Syria, Libya, Tunisia, Lebanon etc they can park up their taxis and form an International Brigade and lay down their lives for the greater good and a few dozen virgins.

I think it was the test of the "iron dome" system.

Oh sorry, probably not. My mistake.

Who knows?
