Mozilla
There is no freedom of religion in Saudi Arabia.Conversion by Muslims to another religion (apostasy) is punishable by death... They follow Wahhabism (British Invention) an extreme idelogy. Strict Wahhabis believe that all those who don't practice their form of Islam are heathens and enemies. hence you have the sectarian killings by suicide bombers i.e Iraq,Afgan, pakistan and now syria... ronthenekred
And whats your beef exactly Redneck ? None really unless I'm reading the rantings of a hypocrite. When was the last time you filled up with Saudi fuel while thinking, "I really shouldn't be doing this for the sake of those oppressed women" So what is it? A full tank or the oppression of women? Decisions decisions. As for the OP, it isn't bad news but there's a long way to go. The uphill struggle always has a start point, maybe this it it. erebus
I love them Saudis, don't you??? Where would we be without 9/11? heard the one about them controling terrorists, amazing what money and oil can buy http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/energy/oilandgas/10266957/Saudis-offer-Russia-secret-oil-deal-if-it-drops-Syria.html So they are a bit backward in some way, a bit repressive, but who cares they buy our weapons, and hate Iran, Love Israel, so they are OK with me. ronthenekred
So you can only criticise Saudi Arabia if you give up using your car and petrol lawnmower?!? Of course not, but if your views are so vociferous in your outrage of a positive and at the same time rewarding a regime in order for you to mow your lawn then your hypocrisy is questionable. Maybe certain posters would like to see the specific law rescinded in order for it to live up to their expectations. It's a bit like screaming your guts out in front of McDonald's or KFC in protest, then come lunch time nipping around the back and stuffing your face with a big mac. So you can only criticise Saudi Arabia if you give up using your car and petrol lawnmower?!? If we stopped importing oil from Saudi it wouldn't affect us in any way. That is because most of the oil we use is from the North Sea. It is either from UK production or from Norway. The rest of our needs come mainly from Nigeria, Algeria and Russia. Probably under 2% of our oil needs comes from Saudi, so criticise them as much as you like.
erebus
We sell them lot of weapons, and other so called defense systems, which helps them repress both their own people and the protesters in Bahrain. That is a clear demonstration they are on our side, cash talks, and they buy billion. They with their untold trillions control many so called terrorist groups, as all terrorist groups need money, and without finance where would the war in Syria be. So its good old Saudi Arabia for fanning the flames, and pouring petrol everywhere, as they do in Pakistan, and many other places. Where did the 9?11 bombers come from? Which members of the Bin_Laden family left the USA by plane when all flights were grounded from the Bush enclave? Terrorism is a tool, and certain corporations need terror as they could not prosper without it. But that all common knowledge innit!

Cutting your grass or filling your tank is a euphemism for the hypocrisy of such Saudi Arabian outrage. See post before this one.
SevenRivers
The Saudi Cabinet have made domestic and workplace violence against women - both physical and sexual - illegal for the first time in the Kingdom's history. Those found guilty could face fines of up to $13000 or 12 months in jail. More details here - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/saudi-arabia-cabinet-passes-ban-on-domestic-violence-8789358.html Still think Saudi has come a long way? Saudi defends jail verdict for rape victim RIYADH - SAUDI Arabia defended on Tuesday a controversial verdict sentencing a 19-year-old gang rape victim to six months jail and 200 lashes. So what do you think of a gang rape victim being jailed and being lashed 200 times Halibut? Are you still deluded enough to believe that Saudi is progressing by outlawing domestic violence, while the state itself commits these heinous acts against women? The sentence she received wasn't because she was raped, it was for violating Saudi Arabia's rigid Islamic laws requiring segregation of the sexes. It was proven that she was in a car with a man who was not her relative. The men also went to prison.
