Supertramp
No, the people on benefits are being subsidised ever so slightly less. They are still being heavily subsidised by working people. I don't think he understands what subsidise means to be honest.

Obelix
none of you know what 'fair' means. but we're all in this together, so that's alright... Oh I'm sure we do, but that's not the argument that you were making. If you want to debate fairness are you sure you know what "fair" means, bearing in mind you don't appear to know what subsidise means?
deaf andy
obelix - replace 'a nation' in your sig with 'sheffield' and see if you can spot the correlation.
Obelix
Bzzzert, try again. The question was... 'are you sure you know what "fair" means, bearing in mind you don't appear to know what subsidise means?'

L00b
why should they subsidise your tax bill with the close-to-nothing that they have?Since you like hypotheticals, and for the sake of entertaining your argument (ho-hum), 'tell you what: (i) they don't subsidise taxpayers' tax bills with the close-to-nothing that they have; (ii) in consideration for which, taxpayers don't pay any tax towards any benefits whatsoever (so that none of the taxpayers' stipend goes to constitute the close-to-nothing that they have, and which they get to keep and live on/with), but only towards national/local resources and development (education, health, infrastructure, military and civil services, consular services, etc). Fair enough? Now, are you starting to understand what fairness means, in a subsidising context?
