Differences between Yorkshire and Derbyshire

Recommended Posts

Another observation ( I hope I am right! ) : Yorkshire has many football teams doing pretty ok, whereas Derbyshire has less success … correct??

Checked Wikipedia and found the populations

Derbys 1,019,500

Yorks 3,978,484

They are neighbours, similar in many aspects, yet different in some ways … even people may seem more private in one county, and more friendly in the other

So what is your observation? :)

Why an angry smiley face?

Not noticed much difference to be honest having grown up in one and living/working in the other.

You can always tell a Yorkshireman.

But do they listen and take it in?

Derbyshire is better nowadays IMO. Yorkshire used to be great but it has fallen a long way in the last few decades.

Both have their good bits. The Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District are national treasures. But both also have their crappy bits like Clay Cross, Rotherham, Barnsley & Sheffield. Yorkshire has far more crappy bits because it is bigger.
