Clifton Park & Rother Valley had 400+, for the first time, probably. The town course seem to have a boost of enthusiasm, 100+ again, not that many 'First timers' but loads on 2 & 3 runs.

Sheffield numbers held up well in the face of the Sheffield Half on Sunday - volunteer rosta's were packed out early doors. The Sunday run was fantastic spectating but a bit hot for the runners, who saw the Pirate flag?.

This is a Sheffield/Nottingham 'double' that appeals to me - https://www.nowca.org/Home/Page/28

Turnout's about 200 each week, a real friendly bunch (as always with parkrun) and a nice course - 3 x 1 mile loops. First section is a shallow descent from the kids park to the bottom and them coming back up to near the top of the park, turning right to the library and back to the kids park.

No real hills to worry about, and not much traffic.

Flanker is away in Ireland at the mo.

Numbers will recommence in June.

Portrush was flat but gave me my best time time year.

Isn't Portrush on the beach?

Can't imagine running on the beach.

I'm hoping to take in the Carrickfergus and Westport parkruns later this month when over there

  • 3 weeks later...

Flanker is back after a delightful visit to the Emerald Isle.

Portrush, Oranmore, Bere Island, Father Collins and Comber parkruns were ticked off and everyone was a delight. As usual the smaller the better, for the parkrun community feel, I put Bere Island as the top of the list.

A quick glance over the last five Sheff&Roth attendances have shown parkrun going from strength to strength with records tumbling. No surprise that the 2k bench mark has been passed 3 time as follows:-

22nd April = 1864

29th April = 1957

6th May = 2018

13th May = 2081

20th May = 2038

Fascinating facts -

Average number of runners per parkrun event.

Hillsborough(152.4) has recently overtaken Graves(152.3). If current trends continue Rother Valley (151.4) will soon overtake them both.
