Andrew Burgess-Tupling to parkrun statsgeek group
The fact it was significantly warmer this Saturday than last week was perhaps the primary reason for a large increase in regional attendance.
There were 49/49 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region.
Of 48 runs completed both last week and this, 44 had higher attendances and four (Armley, Cross Flatts, New Earswick and Rotherham) were lower. (These were lower by 55, one, nine and two respectively.)
Total attendance was 10789 (an all-time December record), an increase of 2995 (38.4%) from the previous week.
There was one repeated attendances: 279 at Heslington and Rother Valley.
Armley’s attendance (65) was under 100 for the first time. Sheffield Castle’s (105) was it’s second highest ever (and above 100 for the fourth time out of 274).
The average weekly attendance over the last 12 months has increased by 11.4% (8852 to 9860). The mean attendance per parkrun per week over the history of parkrun for the region is 201.5; the median is 162.

Sheffield & Rotherham parkrun attendances for 22nd & 23rd December 2018.

9:00, Graves >> 10:00, Hillsborough  (6 miles)

Dewsbury is a 8:30 start.

Poolsbrook with its 10:30 start is a mecca for 30 miles around, or more depending on speed. If your local is a 9:00 starter.

I was jealous last year when Poolsbrook 'Doublers' were rolling up on their push-bikes.

Not this year! (Weather permiting) A peloton of cyclists  will come from Graves, only 10 miles.

Well................there's only 2 of us at the moment ;0)

Find other Doubles here -  http://tailrun.uk/nyd/2018/uk/

8:30 - Watergrove! = 41 options!!

Local parkrun attendances on Christmas Day

Concord = 347 Record Attendance

Poolsbrook = 371, Second Highest Attendance

There is a parkrun to suit almost all tastes.  If running alone is what you want, parkrun is not for you.

You end up running  in and around  a group of about 5-15 similar paced  people for 90% of the free weekly timed 5k. Many of them become friends.

Average Attendances

Concord - 60.4

Sheffield Castle - 47.3

Rotherham - 61.5
