Any initial concerns that the weather would once again impact on the ability for a high complement of parkruns to be staged across the Yorkshire and the Humber region were quickly dismissed. Although there were a couple of cancellations, the rest went ahead with good attendances.
57/61 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Of the regular series only Millhouses and Selby were cancelled due to icy conditions.
Total attendance was 12175, an increase of 2941 (31.8%) compared with last week. For the second consecutive week, the largest attendance was at Endcliffe (661); the smallest was at Frickley Country (49). Of the 42 events that also took place last week, 24 saw an increase in attendance and 18 were lower.
The area attendance was the highest since the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021.
With an increase on the attendance last week, once again the attendance at Endcliffe was the highest across the region for one venue since the return of parkrun on 24 July 2021.
This was the first time two events had attendances above 600 and five were above 500 since 7 March 2020 (when there were four above 600 and seven above 500).
Heslington and Skipton both had attendances of 191, Armley and Rotherham both had 126, Concord and The Cinder Track both had 115, and New Earswick and Wetherby both had 82.
The rolling weekly regional average of 11402* over the last two years represents a decrease of 8.1% when compared with the previous year (12405).

After a brief hiatus, the weather impacted again on the number of parkruns to take place across Yorkshire and the Humber. This week it was gusts of wind in excess of 50mph that led to most of the cancellations.
54/61 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Of the regular series there were cancellations at Chevin Forest, Cross Flatts, Fountains Abbey and Harrogate due to the weather, with Pontefract giving way to the Northern Cross Country Championships.
Total attendance was 10303, a decrease of 1872 (15.4%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (575); the smallest was at Horton Park (39). Of the 52 events that also took place last week, 12 saw an increase in attendance, 39 were lower and one (Cusworth Hall (118)) was the same.
Although clearly the general trend was downward, one venue, Roberts Park had a new record attendance (311). This brings to 46 the number of venues that have a highest attendance of 300+. Conyngham Hall is the only one of these to have a highest of 400+ without having another event over 300.
Somewhat remarkably nine venues had attendances of either 128, 129, 130, 131 or 132. These included Bramley and Skipton which both had attendances of 132, Cleethorpes, Penistone and Temple Newsam which all had 131, and Centre Vale and Millfield both had 130.
Of the 59 venues* that started more than two years ago, only six have seen an increase in their mean attendance since the start of February 2020.
The rolling weekly regional average of 11201** over the last two years represents a decrease of 9.9% when compared with the previous year (12435).
*This number does not include Storthes Hall that only had two runs during this time.

An improvement in the weather meant there weren’t any parkruns cancelled in the Yorkshire and the Humber region. (The only parkruns not to take place were the two that haven’t returned as yet post-lockdown.)
With the launch of Ancholme Valley Way, 60/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Total attendance was 11453, an increase of 1018 (9.8%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (521); the smallest was at Bowling Park (50). Of the 55 events that also took place last week, 26 saw an increase in attendance, 27 were lower and two (Skipton (132) and Wetherby (81)) were the same.
There was a new record attendance at Halifax (292). The last venue with more than 22 events to set a new attendance record was also Halifax on 7 March 2020.
Serendipitously, the attendances at Wetherby for the last four weeks have been 80, 82, 81 and 81.
Beverley Westwood and Peter Pan both had attendances of 189, Cusworth Hall and Skipton had 132, Conyngham Hall and Dewsbury both had 125, Armley and Cleethorpes had 122, Concord, Cross Flatts and Rotherham all had 113 and Middleton Woods and New Earswick both had 79.
Now only three existing venues that started more than two years ago have seen an increase in their mean attendance since the start of February 2020. They are Dewsbury (12%), Halifax (9%) and Northallerton (3%).
The rolling weekly regional average of 10762* over the last two years represents a decrease of 15.6% when compared with the previous year (12747).

This week in the Yorkshire and the Humber region, one venue saw a record attendance (probably not the first venue you’re thinking of) and there were a couple of niche stats!
You know, people who don’t read this post every week just don’t know what they’re missing!
59/62 events took place across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Of the regular series, there was no event at Middleton Woods.
Total attendance was 11278, a decrease of 175 (1.5%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (587); the smallest was at Frickley Country (37). Of the 59 events that also took place last week, 31 saw an increase in attendance and 28 were lower.
There was a new record attendance at Roberts Park (349).
York staged its 400th event and with an attendance today of 513, has now had a mean attendance over the last two years of precisely 500.
Cliffe Castle had an attendance of 110 at its 110th event.
If you like a double, you’re in luck – there were plenty:
Graves and Pontefract both had attendances of 212, Brighouse and Sandall Park had 182, Cross Flatts and Normanby Hall had 166, Beverley Westwood and Skipton had 140, Selby and Temple Newsam had 125, Bramley and Cusworth Hall had 120, Cliffe Castle and Rotherham had 110 and Humber Bridge and Northallerton had 95.
The rolling weekly regional average of 10613* over the last two years represents a decrease of 17.8% when compared with the previous year (12915).
