woodmally
No matter how many posts get locked and told post in the classified section people still do it. Its not rocket science surely.
Andy
You would think so wouldn't you.... In fairness a lot of the "offenders" are new members, who probably don't understand the rules.

It's not rocket science for a mod to just move it to the correct location either..or is it? Having a post locked isn't exactly a friendly welcome for a new member. Just saying, like.... Andy
The mods can't move posts from here to the classifieds, because they're different types of post. It just doesn't work and can cause chaos if someone tries

Resident
It's not rocket science for a mod to just move it to the correct location either..or is it? Having a post locked isn't exactly a friendly welcome for a new member. Just saying, like.... As Andy said it's not as simple as just moving the post to the Classifieds section. Although part of the forum it's actually it's own sub-system. The entry fields etc are all different and incompatible with a standard forum post. For a mod to "move" it, they would have to spend time recreating it by extracting the relevant data and imputing it themselves. That takes too much of their time. At the end of the day when you sign up to the forums you state (by accepting the terms and conditions) that you have read, understand and agree to abide to the forum rules. Contained within those rules are the instructions for Classified type posts. There's really no excuse for a new member not to know about it. Allen
Oh..come on! How many new members read the rules? Faced with a 3 page essay on rules and regulations most people click.....yes I've read it. Of course there's an excuse. That said....I accept the explanation of the difficulty in moving posts to classifieds. Just a shame there is no way of making new members to feel welcome...... Having a first post locked/removed.....with a curt remark to post in the correct location doesn't encourage further participation.
sh3rb3t
Actually, you don't need to read three pages of anything. There is usually a thread at the top of each section, that states "no advertising in here"...
Andy
For a mod to "move" it, they would have to spend time recreating it by extracting the relevant data and imputing it themselves. That takes too much of their time. They couldn't even do that... if they tried to re-create the post, it would show as having been posted by the moderator so they would receive any PMs from potential purchasers of whatever was being advertised.
