Moonbird
My Neighbour and I are about to put up 3 fence panels, its got to be on a tight budget so we have decided to use wooden posts, the fence is 6ft high so are we right in getting 8ft high posts? also is 3x3 or 4x2 posts sufficient for purpose? Also we would be very grateful for any tips on where to buy the cheapest posts in the Sheffield area
megalithic
I'd always go for 4x4 treated posts.

I just get them from a builders yard. I know they are expensive but they are worth the extra as they'll last far longer than cheaper options.
