Care to expand as I have no idea what you're talking about ? Mats on the bonnet of cars ?
denomis
Care to expand as I have no idea what you're talking about ? Mats on the bonnet of cars ? Yeah I'm thinking the same. Are you talking about having the bonnet wrapped in black matt
megalithic
I don't know the name of them sorry. They sort of cover the front of the bonnet and have two little "stubs" sticking up. i've not seen one close up but from a distance they look like black leather. That's called a nose bra and its to protect the paintwork from stone chips.
muddywolf
Bonnet bra, and they do look daft don't they. The idea is to protect the bonnet from stone chips but I know what I would sooner have.
megalithic
That's called a nose bra and its to protect the paintwork from stone chips. Really ? A bit overkill isn't it ? I think they actually spoil the look of the car.
Resident
I think he's on about "bonnet bras". They're allegedly to stop stone chipping. But in reality they cause more damage in my experience as they end up trapping moisture and grit underneath them and with the movement end up scratching the paintwork just as bad. The other issue I have with them is why the first foot of the bonnet, the front bumper is more likely to catch an airborne stone. It was a silly idea borne from the cliquey modified VW scene. The same scene that though it a good idea to take a perfectly good roadworthy car and then make it look like an unroadworthy shed.
