CathS
Does anyone know of any private doctors or specialists who deal with Hormone Imbalance. A lot of my ailments i thinks are related to my hormones but my doctor isn't very supportive so i wanted to seek some more help. Thanks

Daven
Which of your hormones do you think are imbalanced ?
Janus
Cath, (The search term is endocrinologist). I could only find one in the area, A Dr. Alahabadia in Sheffield, and these guys are not cheap (£200 for about 45 mins). In all events you will need a referal letter from "some where". This doctor is also an NHS consultant at the Northern General Hospital. You are correct - all patients need a referral letter from their GP to see a 'specialist' doctor either privately or NHS. Maybe the OP could ask to see a different GP who may be more sympathetic. If, as I suspect, the hormone imbalance is one of a 'female' nature, she should see a female GP who are, generally, more sympathetic with regards to that area of medicine - I speak from experience. Regards.
Janus
If you cannot get a doc to refer you after trying all the GPs, it is possible to get a referal letter from a private GP £££
GoGo_dancer
Your GP should at least offer you a simple blood test, but bear in mind that depending on your age, they may not offer you much advice other than lose weight, eat healthily, do exercise, stop smoking/drinking etc. Don't get me wrong, some conditions can be managed through a healthy lifestyle but it can feel like you're being fobbed off. They only time they are really bothered is if you are wanting to try for a baby, or coming up to menopause.
