runningowl
The last I heard all the running/athletic clubs have asked for woodbourn road to be JUST for athletics and Hallam Uni were also keen to keep it so. It was one of THE big bug bears we had at DVS with sheffield Eagles getting in the way of the track.
orangejim
so if its just for Athletics how much will it cost to run? Didnt Woodbourn used to have football teams, rugby training which i am guessing went towards keeping the place open for athletics. Athletics doesnt make enough money to run a stadium like Don Valley or even Woodbourn hence other sports used them.
jemson
Yeah, just for athletics but clearly not able to cope with one of our (few) decent athletic events, the Sheffield Half!
runningowl
Two reasons. Tram tracks and the building belongs to powerleague football not the the track. The deal i believe is the Running clubs prove they will pay to use the track and it stays athletics only and the university keep it athletics only and the clubs will use it. Hallam university will be basing their athletes at the track. They want to compete with Loughborough and Birmingham uni's for producing future olympians.
