DPL7
Is it me or are they at it again. Drove past a few petrol stations on the way to work this morning and they seem to be creeping up a penny every day.Anyone else noticed this.

Vague_Boy
Is it me or are they at it again. "At it again"? What a charmingly simplistic view of the world you have. Or perhaps you don't follow the news? Oil prices are on the up. Since early June, Brent crude has surged from just over $100 to reach $108.7 per barrel last week – a three-month high. West Texas Intermediate, the US oil benchmark, meanwhile hit $107, a level not seen since March 2012. LINK So unless your local garages are key players in some international oil cartel I would venture to suggest that they are not "at it again". The stuff they sell has gotten more expensive. Their costs however have not reduced. So they either lose money or raise prices. Your proletarian paranoia that people are trying to con you is amusing but unfounded. And things might get worse: Syria: Would military strikes push oil prices to record highs? In recent days, the price of oil has surged to a six-month high. A barrel of Brent crude jumped 6% to $117 on Wednesday, and compares with less than $100 a barrel as recently as June. Analysts from the bank Societe Generale suggest the price could eventually surge to $125 if air strikes are launched, and $150 a barrel if the military action disrupts production in the region. LINK [bBC News, 30 August 2013] Perhaps your local petrol station is secretly undermining efforts at a diplomatic solution in order to make a killing? alchresearch
Diesel went up to 143.9 round here for a brief period a few weeks ago but its gone back down to 141.9. But don't forget, when it goes down a penny, its "too small to make a difference" but when it goes up its an "outrage" © DM.

And likewise when the stuff they sell reduces in price they always act quickly to lower the price for us at the pumps.
