Mister M
That's the thing about tories - At some point in their lives most of them will have benfited from or will require state-funded welfare or education, but when they're lucky enough not to require it, they turn round and say nobody else should be allowed to access it. It's all, "Why should I have to ... ?" blah blah blah Although to be fair Labour - the New type, were also very good at pulling up the ladder after them. Look at how much it costs to go to univeristy and college now and compare it with pre 1997. Though I accept that had Tories been in power it probably wouldn't be any different
alchresearch
This from the man who thinks Bernard Matthews was Thatchers press secretary. Any Tory knows its Bernard Bresslaw.

It must have come as a shock to them when the won the 92 election. Don't forget the fees have trebbled since 2010
Happ Hazzard
Maybe we should look at where the money goes within Universities? Are students getting value for money in terms of contact hours? Are lecturers overpaid? University executives certainly are. Too many people look at "uni" as an expensive 3 year ****-up instead of really thinking about whether they are getting value for money.
Mecky
What do you call value for money, won’t peoples’ opinions be different? The thing is universities largely train people in specific skills rather than teaching people how to think for themselves and remember they stuff they learn. For most people university just seems to be an extension of school where the aim is to pass the course rather than improving the overall ability of the student who can then go on to benefit others. Some people go on to achieve greatness but most don’t

Happ Hazzard
Never, but plenty of people that are currently students would otherwise be unemployed.

So perhaps it's good that they're learning and getting accredited for that learning rather than loafing on the dole
