XXTickerXX
I would ignore it anyway even if it became a law. I have walked over 10000 miles with my dogs off lead and would laugh in someone`s face if they told me they were suddenly dangerous and must be muzzled, before ignoring them completely and carrying on. Cyclone
True. Any person has a right to walk anywhere without feeling intimidated and all dogs can be intimidating so all dogs, apart from guide dogs, should be banned from public places, and if that means a ban on all dogs being kept as so called pets, then so be it. Muzzling wouldn't work because no one could police it. Firstly, there is no such right. Secondly, anyone who feels intimidated by ALL dogs has some sort of problem. The solution to that problem is to treat them, not to ban everything that isn't human from anywhere they might ever go. ---------- Post added 22-09-2013 at 11:09 ---------- What other policy do you suggest? Why must there be another policy? I'm quite happy with the situation as it stands. Perhaps though the police could do slightly more when a dangerous dog is reported to them. Chris_Sleeps
What other policy do you suggest? None. Pay me and I'll organise a committe and a think tank and we'll drum one up.
Cyclone
Why would they? Theres no money in it. There's no money in investigating most crime, but that's what they do.
RyanPace
Not all dogs are nasty. It depends on the upbringing and I dont think its right that the harmless dogs have be muzzled due to a owner that cant look after its pet
TheTwirler
I voted no. If my OH takes the dog for a walk in our local area, I do worry about some of the scrotes around and the violent crimes that happen locally. If they saw a muzzled dog, it would remove any doubt in their minds about whether to attempt to rob her. Even though in reality he's the softest Lab I've ever seen and I'm not entirely sure what he'd do. He's never ever attempted to bite anyone, or any dog he's ever been socialised with. I just would feel more comfortable with him not muzzled whilst with her. If that makes sense.
medusa
I voted no too. Why should I, as a responsible dog owner, muzzle my dog in a public space and completely curtail her ability to chase and catch her frisbee, bring back a ball and the like when I'm taking her out in places where there are usually not other dogs or human beings? Moreover, why should I stop her being able to defend herself the next time that a badly trained unmuzzled staffy heading in at full speed teeth first goes for her? If the DDA has not stopped pit bulls being bred in this country after all these years (and it clearly hasn't) then why should responsible owners who train their dogs well be penalised for those who don't? Short answer; knee jerk, it's to appease morons.
Happ Hazzard
There'd be no point to it. As it is, Chavs let their dogs wee and poo everywhere and they don't get fined, or if they get them, they don't pay them. If the fines aren't going to be applied across the board, there's no point. Just like the laws about public drinking in town centres.
