Norseman
So, why is the Labour Conference in Brighton? Brighton is the playground for wealthy Londoners, there is plenty of money down there compared to cash-starved northern 'resorts', so why are Labour putting money in to Brighton's coffers instead of more needy places? It doesn't seem very socially responsible to me. Would you prefer Macclesfield??? or Pontifract
Hillpig
is that a contribution or a snipe? Neither, it is a defence of another contributor,
avidcameron
Do you intend to make a contribution here or merely snipe? Just because someone disagrees with you should not make them liable to your incivilities. Say something or shut up. I heard what he said and it made sense, and in doing so he/she was not gratuitously offensive.

Forums are supposed to be for discussion. They are,but you also use the forum to perpetuate stereotypes. In this case you were dismissive of Brighton residents-liberal beardy types! blake
I'd be surprised if they all of the parties didn't make a pitch of some sort for the gay vote. Brighton is not like your usual town.
RollingJ
I'd be surprised if they all of the parties didn't make a pitch of some sort for the gay vote. Brighton is not like your usual town. Have you been to Brighton?? I have - many times, and fail to see how it is 'not like your usual town'. Yes, there is a sizable gay community, but from my experience, 99% of them just get on with their lives just like anyone else - AND they are some of the nicest people I've met. blake
excuse me but how can 99% of people be just like anyone else and yet still be some of the nicest people you have ever met? and yes I have been to Brighton. I stayed in my camper van there for a whole week.
Happ Hazzard
Brighton is not like your usual town. The Greens got in there, they didn't even come close anywhere else. It's a haven for "green" types from London and elsewhere. I can't think of anywhere else in Britain that is like it.
blake
there are various types of hippie type hangouts dotted around the country that are a bit like mini Brightons. Glastonbury of course. Avebury. Hebden Bridge. One thing they have in common is that they are usually situated in Tory leaning constituencies like Brighton, or at least Pavilion, has usually been.
