Electerrific
I bought a new black pair off ebay (Seller descrip didn't say China!) and the rubber soles and canvas top reek of a pungent industrial rubber!! The room smells of them after a bit, and I don't want to ruin them. How do I treat them, I don't have a garden to leave them outside.

Maz3
Tie shoes onto a coat hanger by their laces. Make small hole in bottom of plastic carrier bag. Put coat hanger with shoes into bag. Thread coat hanger hook through small hole in bag. Hang on washing line outside until smell goes.

frededwards
Sprinkle with bicarbonate of soda and leave them for a few days. Bicarbonate of soda absorbs most smells and neutralises them.

Ah, interesting, I'll try that. I read also that wrapping them in newspaper also absorbs the odour of rubber?
