avidcameron
I know full well what it's called thank you but in reality it's a road tax.. a tax paid to be able to use the road.. whatever you call it that's what it boils down to.. You can pay VED and never go on the roads-therefore not a road tax.It is hard to pay duty on alcohol without a drink but quite possible to pay VED without driving on the roads. If it were a road tax you would not need multiple tax discs but would have a transferable portable proof of payment. WeX
Except calling it road tax gives some foolish people the impression that those road users who don't pay it have less right to use the roads than those who do. Some of them then go on to drive with less care around those others, with predictable consequences, because they think they should have priority. Its a tax you get out of for not using the roads. If you think its nothing to do with that, why not take it off cars and put it onto everyones tax bill?

I think everyone realises this-have you just discovered a basic truth as you seem rather excited? Each of your posts deepens the hole you occupy. I don't think paths will be wide enough for cars.
