What next for Tommy Robinson?

Recommended Posts

The immigration issue is now mainstream thanks to the meteoric rise of UKIP.

There is now a real chance that UKIP could form part of a coalition government after the next election and could actually implement some of their policies.

Immigration has always been a mainstream issue. Successive governments have passed immigration acts. It's just that the mainstream deals with other issues too - health, education, defence, transport, energy, environment, etc, etc - issues that UKIP doesn't deal with other than by opposing HS2 and supporting fracking.

UKIP will need to win a couple of dozen seats at least to be part of a coalition and hope they're bigger than the Lib-Dems. Even if they get one or two MPs they'll only be as relevant as the SNP or Plaid Cymru. The Tories won't touch them at the moment because they'll lose votes to Labour if they associate themselves with them. During a general election campaign UKIP's lack of structure, discipline and organisation will become obvious and cost them votes by making them look like the amateurish bunch of whingers they are.

Wind forward two years. Will Tommy Robinson be back with a newly resurgent EDL telling us all "look I tried to be reasonable look where it got us". Is it an excuse for future extremism?

Is it a man renouncing violence and hoping that dialogue with the Muslim community will help stop the spread of Islamic extremism? As my clumsy post earlier in attempted to show, all sorts of terrorists/freedom fighters/thugs have gone to, and had more success with peaceful methods.

I suppose it boils down to whether you trust him or not and whether you think there is any rise in Islamic extremism in this country that needs addressing.

Its about time the guy got some credit. He head butted a Nazi at one demo and was arrested. He's now left the organisation he formed because he doesn't like being associated with them.

Yet, he's still called a "Fascist". That's ridiculous, I don't even think he's right wing.

of course theres a rise / problem islamic extremism, just look at how many arrests are made here and abroad in the past year, 2 years that feature people either in this country or from this country, we also have born one of the most wanted terrorists in the world currently, the white widow

I watched on News night last night and I believe that he's sincere. It wasn't a slanging match. Robinson said his piece and give him his due he quite often does alright in interviews.

My point was more about how patient he can be because things won't change overnight. But....I think he's a clever lad and he knows that with an improving economy and a pull-out from Afghanistan the flashpoints that led to the start of the EDL could be fewer.

It just depends what happens in terms of terror attacks etc...

What parts of the BNP agenda have been put into practice? Withdrawal from the EU? An end to overseas aid? Wider gun-ownership? An end to immigration? Invading Poland?

Back on topic you make generalisations and then go on another tangent, stop trying to potray right thinking people with slurs.
