Ancient Confession Found: 'We Invented Jesus Christ'

Recommended Posts

American Biblical scholar Joseph Atwill will be appearing before the British public for the first time in London on the 19th of October to present a controversial new discovery: ancient confessions recently uncovered now prove, according to Atwill, that the New Testament was written by first-century Roman aristocrats and that they fabricated the entire story of Jesus Christ. His presentation will be part of a one-day symposium entitled "Covert Messiah" at Conway Hall in Holborn (full details can be found at http://www.covertmessiah.com).

From the site covertmessiah.com:

It is our hope that audiences will open up to the possibility that the history written in official books is not always actual fact, and that religion is often used as a political tool to control the populace, even to this day.

It is my hope that the authors of this book realise that plenty of people know that "the history written in official books is not always actual fact".

These guys wouldn't pass a history degree, so one wonders about their grand pronouncements on historical matters.

Although, like most religious texts, the New Testament probably was made up, I don't think even 100% conclusive, irrefutable proof would convince many believers

Nor would it keep the atheists happy.

What would they do? What would they have to moan about?

If we embraced atheism it would be detrimental to the world economy as there would be no wars and massive unemployment in the defence industries.

No wars? How did you work that one out?

Nor would it keep the atheists happy.

Well, the existence of Jesus plays no part in the question of the existence of God, so it wouldn't make any difference to them.

tbh, the existence of Jesus is immaterial to Christianity. The power is in the story, not some long dead bloke.
