Today marks the 100th anniversary of an explosion at Senghenydd pit see link . 439 miners were killed that day and countless children left with no fathers, and wives no husband.

 

I read earlier of one woman who had 8 coffins in her home (traditional back then), her husband 4 sons & 3 sons in law-tragic does not begin to describe it.
