Child sex offenders should be allowed to adopt!!

Recommended Posts

theres plausibility for every argument

"She highlighted the case of a grandfather with a conviction for having sex with a 15-year-old dating back to when he was 29, who was refused permission to adopt his own grandchildren."

Hmm, things got a little more interesting..

Don't panic just yet Bethsmummy, the author of the report isn't running anything, she's a (controversial) lecturer in law and repeating something she said previously in 2010, not that anyone's taken a blind bit of notice

http://www.christian.org.uk/news/sex-offenders-should-be-free-to-adopt-claims-lawyer/

Ps..just noticed your link's from 2010 too!

And she's not even calling for all child sex offenders to be allowed to adopt.

“The Vetting and Barring Scheme and other legislative measures single out sex offenders for unfair special treatment and they destroy the principle that a prisoner pays his or her debt by serving their sentence before re-entering society on equal terms.”

Miss Reece criticised the rules for leading all sex offenders to be “tarred with the same brush,” saying that while “careful screening” was “important,” the issuing of a “blanket ban” violated the rights of criminals who wanted to adopt or work with young people.

Sex offenders are often singled out for very good reason.

Yes there are different categories of sex offenders; however I'd rather err on the side of caution. We all know how devious and manipulative sex offenders are. If they are not allowed to work with young people, well that's sad but there are other careers where a vulnerable person would not be put at risk.

We all know how devious and manipulative some sex offenders are

and we all know how devious and manipulative some non sex offenders are,

we even know that some sex offenders are never caught and that some non sex offenders will become sex offender in the future.

Yes some non sex offenders are manipulative, and some sex offenders may not be caught. But that doesn't mean to say that we should scrap all the rules so that no child or vulnerable person is unsafe!

A friend just posted it to her Facebook page. The very notion that someone can believe this is unfathomable.

It simply illustrates the risks of spreading gossip among a gullible and undiscriminating section of the populace waiting to slavishly devour any scandal-tinged rumour. It is even worse to recycle this bile with relish.

A sixteen year old lad has sex with his girlfriend just before her sixteenth birthday.

He has broke the law by having sex with a minor?

He should be known as a peado and go on the sex offenders list for the rest of his life?
