EODM83
Hello. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post but getting rather desperate. Currently driving 2006 1.2 Corsa (design) Got a problem with regards to water. Engine was overheating and water from the tank was disappearing when filled. called the AA and they came and replaced the water pump pipe (original had corroded away, hence no water). AA replaced and did pressure and sniff test, all fine. Car ran fine for a day. Next checked water following morning, had gone down some but not a lot. Driven for and hour in heavy traffic. No increase in temperature. Returned to find water had gone down a little but not much. Topped up again for commute to work, again no problems - however water has again totally vanished when parked. Parked in dry driveway and no evidence of leaks at all both on driveway and around engine. Anyone any suggestions as not at all car savvy and don't want to be ripped off. Thanks in advance for your responses and sorry once again if this is the wrong place for posting. Clarence06
yorkiepudd
Is there any water spluttering out of the exhaust when the engine is started? Any evidence of a creamy residue around the oil filler cap?
willman
I had this issue on my Freelander it was the inlet manifold gasket. It only happened when parked over night followed by the occasional erratic starting of the car, which is a symptom. £35 saw it cured by a mechanic. yorkiepudd
That's pretty much eliminated head gasket problems then. If there's definitely no water under the car when stood, have you check inside, see if the carpets are getting damp? Also, when you're topping the coolant up, are you making sure the heater inside is set to full hot?

My Landy started and ran perfectly for ages with loss of coolant,it just gradually got worse. (As a k series engine owner you're always checking for water leaks)
EODM83
Will check the carpets tonight - no visible signs inside the car - carpets etc. One thing tonight - this morning when the heaters were on it took a while to clear the windscreen when on full blast - Had a PM from someone willing to come take a look. Hoping its nothing too serious - Anyone recommend any garages near Walkley/Hillsborough?
