wheezie
I was at at Hurlfield Comp from 1970-77 and remember going to Brownhead outside Pickering. While in Whitby recently I decided to try and find it, armed with OS map and family in tow we treked through the Crompton Forest. We eventually found it, derelict and overgrown, access was difficult due to over growth of ferns and heather but wow did it bring back memories. Can't imagine kids going there now, what with risk assessments etc. I remember sleeping on awful bunks and couldn't sleep knowing that if I wanted the loo it was down the field in a tin hut, terrified one night by a sheep waiting in the pitch black. Great fun though.

Great fun though. We had to take it in turns to empty the tin hut and bury its contents.Shame it is derelict.
