Uptowngirl
Thanks for the history lesson but what about now? ........ For the record I'm no fan of Labour either. Not a history lesson. Just a reminder that when you arrive at a car crash it can take the emergency services a bit longer to clear up the wreckage than it took a reckless driver to create the mess. Lets not forget that the cuts are not some Tory plot to cut living standards. They are necessary because Brown & Darling spent all the money, built up a massive debt as well as a huge deficit between tax receipts and the costs of a massively inflated public sector. When you start from the bottom of a hole that deep it can take a while for the green shoots to emerge. If we hadn't lost so much of our capacity in 2008/2009 it would be around now to boost output. But business doesn't contribute to UK GDP if it relocated to China or eastern Europe.

One problem is that when it's the tories who are the "emergency services" ,they will let the victims die, sell off the wreckage for scrap and any one who does survive the "car crash" will be classed a scrounger if they don't get back to work on their one remaining leg! And are you that naive to believe that the tories aren't simply using the bank created recession as an excuse to get rid of as many bloody public services as they can.oh and then say it's not our fault it's them there nasty labour lefties who caused it nee naa nee nee naa:huh:

I don't want to see frontline services cut but you must admit a lot of the public sector was pretty bloated. (And you do know little ed wont reverse any of the cuts if elected dont you?) tinfoilhat
Yep your right,it was pretty bloated BUT so was the bankers bonuses! Bankers bonuses, well played. What we playing lefty bingo? As point of interest, the time to reform and extract as much as you could from financial services was when Gordon brown gave them collectively (ims) £903billion. He extracted sweet FA and reformed nothing. Chance gone. So, the public sector needed trimming. All parties agree on that. Would you agree that some of the cuts were politically motivated? Eg don valley closing a year after the Olympics but SIV find the same money to send to....Harrogate?scarborough? (Can't remember!!!).
