Mikes10
For the freezer I use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel. ( Well you have to keep changing the water every couple of hours but it does work ).

Alcoblog
Wouldn't the rapid temperature change cause damage? I always defrost my freezer with a hairdryer (G/F's) and never had a problem (G/F has, but I bought her a new one). It takes about fifteen minutes to defrost, but remember to turn the freezer off first (that's how damage may occur). Also, don't just aim the dryer at one specific area ... just waft it around in general. Also, from experience ... don't let water drip onto the hairdryer! (see my first sentence and work it out!)
