Just wait 'til the case goes to Europe....

There are many people who couldn't cope with that lifestyle having to move around, family far away. But the big difference is property ownership. When you've owned property for a few years you have choices when the goal posts are moved, you can adapt for the better. Those on benefits already located and settled in parts of London have just suddenly been hit with a big sledge hammer. I'm not sure that's a caring government.

They can live where they want...just can't expect everyone else to pay for them...

But the government were happy to pay for them, allowed them to make lives and settle their children. Should people so vulnerable with no immediate options be suddenly hit so hard.

Which government...?Obviously not this one otherwise they wouldn't be going for the benefit cap...

Try telling young children distraught they will have to leave their schools, friends and close family because a change of government has made it so. I have compassion for people in that situation, why is that a problem?

There are a couple of billion people in the world that would love to swap their lot for such hardship. A bit of perspective please.

Same thing happens to people who have to move because of work...is it fair that someone who is not working should have the same income (probably more) as someone who is...? Genuine question...

This is a good turn of events. Seems that those who want more than £500 a week in benefits (which is approx equal to the average salary in the UK) have been beaten in the counts.

The women who brought about this case seemed to think that as they were single parents, they deserved more than £500 per week in state hand outs

It's always ironic that if benefit scroungers put as much effort into looking for work as to mounting legal challenges, they wouldn't need to rely on benefits!

You could apply that to anything, a bit of focus please.

I thought 'hardship' was the focus?

I pointed out that it isn't hardship at all by the standards of most people in the world. We have become soft, spoilt and nannied but the money ain't there any more and, like it or not, it's time for people to stand up and start looking after themselves.

The people already in receipt of those benefits did not make the rules. They had kids, lived their lives and were given assistance to settle their families and have some security. Society consistently drones on about how family is EVERYTHING. Well is it or isn't it? Because a government who would suddenly bring down a hammer on any family with no options forcing them colossal upheaval, to disperse and probably split up can't believe so.

If someone is hard working, they have a high probability of advancement, property ownership and many other opportunities that far outweigh the benefits of a lifetime on handouts.
