Misty 8T
Wow, I've just seen the video from Sheffield online. Out of control.
InigoMontoya
I saw this this morning, and thought it looked like the closed junction with Fieldhead Road. Here's an idea, SCC. Remove the pavement blocking that street, and it can't be used as an ambush point against motorists any more?
Hesther
Toby Foster is talking about this live now on Radio Sheffield. He is discussing the video from Abbeydale Road and reports from other areas of Sheffield, including Tinsley where reportedly, people were firing fireworks in to car windows. He is inviting people to discuss the incident, the first caller from Burngreave is now on the line, reporting incidents from last night and the past week. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radiosheffield I note another thread has been started about the fireworks on Abbeydale Road last night. Please could we change the title of this thread, as it looks as if it is about an organised display from the title? Hesther
We happily allow sale of incendiary devices to the general public so why the surprise? We also sell knives, aerosols, matches and have done for years. The problem is idiots who are totally out of control. We know from previous threads on here, if it is not fireworks being thrown at pedestrians and road users, it's rocks. We have all these incidents all over Sheffield, yet only one arrest at the time, according to the Star report, is that correct?

Because all the perpetrators will have "had it away on their heels" so to speak, and, as yet, they haven't been identified as suspects?
Blade73
Unfortunately the area all the way down London Road to Waitrose is becoming a bit of a no go area after dark according to posts made on this forum, just read about an attempted carjacking at Ecclesall Road Roundabout. Blade73
Exactly. "According to posts made on this forum". The reality is different. I work just off Abbeydale Rd and we have been told not to park our cars on the road (legally btw) on fridays as there have been instances of cars been purposely damaged when the mosques call at 2pm ish and parking is at a premium

Cyclone
We happily allow sale of incendiary devices to the general public so why the surprise? We sell knives as well, but we're still not happy if people start stabbing strangers in the street!
