Halibut
There is no doubt that the soldier was in violation of the Geneva Convention but when I think of the Taliban who shot 14 year old Pakistan schoolgirl Malala in the head for daring to say that girls should have the right to an education it makes me want to forget the rules occasionally when dealing with this scum. Do the Pakistani boys and girls who were blown to pieces in US drone strikes for daring to be in the wrong place at the wrong time similarly concern you? You seem to employ a worrying degree of moral relativism. Is killing a defenceless human being sometimes a bad thing and worthy of punishment and sometimes, well, kind of Ok? That appears to be your stance.
Jmack
Nelson Mandela walked out of prison after 27 years and forgave his captors. This guy saw an injured man, looked him in the eyes and shot him. I know who i consider a real man.

boyfriday
Did Mandela's victims forgive him? There would have been no victims if the South African regime had not put Mandela in a position where he had anything to be forgiven for.

Osama Bin laden and Gerry Adams would say the same thing.

SiSiSi
So what's your view of Mandela compared to Bin Laden or Adams? A Terrorist who fully believed that his actions and those of his associates were fully justifiable. Hang on, have I just described Mandela or Bin Laden? Or even Adams? SevenRivers
Way over the top sentence imo, the Taliban fighter had already been shot up by an Apache helicopter, at least the marine humanely ended his suffering.

The truly humane thing to do would be to offer him comfort, attend to his wounds and give him a decent dose of morphine, rather than kill him.
