Henri
Hi, I posted a couple of months ago re: indicators not working properly, received great response from fellow forum members, thanks to all replied, new flasher unit solved the problem ! The problem now when I put the lights on the o/s indicator & fog lights come on and stay on permanently, could anyone shed some light on this or recommend a reasonably priced auto electrician, as I think I may have to pay someone to solve this. Any help will be much appreciated as always. thanks in advance. p.s need this doing a.s.s.p !!!
Squiggs
One quick check for this before calling someone out. At the back of the light unit there will be a wire coming out of the light cluster and going to a ring terminal on the bodywork. Undo this, clean it up and make sure the connection is sound, as this could be as simple as a bad earth connection. It may not be, but it's a simple DIY check worth doing
alchresearch
Could also be damp / moisture in the rear light cluster, easy to check for.
Henri
Many thanks, will give these both a try.
alchresearch
Maybe disconnect the electrical lead from the light cluster "plate" and give a blast with WD40.
goldleaf
Spray DW-40 all over wires fittings the lot… This will drive out any moisture that can create problems. Give us more info regarding indicators not working properly and maybe we can help more. ---------- Post added 12-11-2013 at 02:30 ---------- “Hi, I posted a couple of months ago re: indicators not working properly, received great response from fellow forum members, thanks to all replied, new flasher unit solved the problem !” …. How was this solved, by what means, etc etc ….. a school girl can wire that up …. Give more in-depth info we can then see if the dood that fixed your indicators didn’t mess the rest up. … more info needed.
spilldig
Either way it sounds like a bad earth to me. Look for any sign of corrosion on an earthing point.
