Cyclone
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/443462/Winter-2013-expected-to-be-worst-since-1947-with-heavy-and-persistent-snow-forecast-for-UK I know it's the Express but other papers and media sources have started to say similar stuff, guess we'll have to wait and see but the outlook this year does look bleak. I think they got the forecast wrong by about 3000 miles.
alchresearch
I think they got part of it right, if it had been colder then all this water and flooding would have been snow!
rickiethecat
Didn't someone say it last year. mind you say it enough times before you die and you might get it right The Daily Express (who started the "100 days of snow" scare story) are notorious for their hysterical front pages about the weather. The BBC's Paul Hudson published a very helpful blog explaining why the Express gets it wrong and why they keep doing it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulhudson/posts/whats-behind-the-coldest-winte
WeX
I think they got part of it right, if it had been colder then all this water and flooding would have been snow! that's a good point. a few degrees lower and the Uk would be a winter wonderland right now. What worries me is, the weather that hits the east coast of the USA arrives in the UK between 5-7 days later. Its usually warmed but the extreme cold could well make it across the pond. Doom
The Daily Express (who started the "100 days of snow" scare story) are notorious for their hysterical front pages about the weather. The BBC's Paul Hudson published a very helpful blog explaining why the Express gets it wrong and why they keep doing it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulhudson/posts/whats-behind-the-coldest-winte As far as I'm concerned that blog puts to bed the rubbish printed in the Express about extreme weather. As the saying goes, one day they will be correct, but even a stopped clock is correct twice a day. Regards Doom
Jeffrey Shaw
Mid-January 2014 and, in SY at least, no extreme weather yet.
andyofborg
Mid-January 2014 and, in SY at least, no extreme weather yet. perhaps the lack of extreme weather is an extreme in its own right.....
anywebsite
I think they got part of it right, if it had been colder then all this water and flooding would have been snow! If it was colder it might be the coldest winter for 100 years or something, but it's not, the Express was wrong, again.
