Yorkshire multi-millionaire businessman backs UKIP

Recommended Posts

They will vote UKIP because they don't like the present government, eh? Do you think UKIP's the only alternative? UKIP is a protest vote dustbin for reactionary men over 50, nothing more, nothing less.

Our contributions to the EU are 0.6% which is hardly bleeding us dry.

We are not 2nd class in our own country. We are not forced to think what we are told. You spout hype and nothing else. You think anyone who doesn't agree with you has been brainwashed. You should get your ego under control.

You should be frothing at the mouth on the Telegraph website along with the other Empire loyalists.

0.6 percent of what? The cost of being in the Eu is a lot wider than what we pay to be in it we pay in many ways and them with a touch of intelligence will know how but that won't stop people like you who resort to insults to try and make your point because facts just sent enough .

I've no doubt we will see ukip being called a few more names before the election but it won't make any difference.

0.6%? No. The Financial Times journalist Tim Congden puts the total cost of UK membership at > 11% of GDP.

In total what exactly does that include?

Does it include all the millions of people struggling for work and having to claim dole because companys don't want to pay living wages when they can exploit the immigrants yet the people here suffer in poverty along with their children with little hope of breaking the cycle?

Does it also include NHS bills and other services that are full to bursting to the point where people already here are finding it difficult to use them?

What about housing I thought there was a shortage which pushes up rents at the same time as wages are being reduced?

Cost is a very open ended word, seems to some who live in cookoo land the total means very little!

Maybe you could provide a link to Congdon's economic assessment so we can analyse it. In the meantime I'll stick to the standard belief that our contribution to the EU is 0.6% of GDP and that your fellow UKIP member's argument is as true as your own arguments that Enoch Powell wasn't racist and UKIP isn't right-wing.

If you wanted to add in those costs you'd also have to deduct all the contributions that foreigners make here through taxes and productivity and all the costs that UK nationals put on the states of other EU countries where they live. Migration is a 2 way street, something UKIP ignores.

They pay tax and contribute to the country's productivity. They obviously don't send all their money back home. Look at all the work the Poles do. They're not here to sign on. They rent homes and work hard. And UK citizens work and earn abroad and bring money back here.

People like you think that national borders are the be all and end all of economic and political activity. They're not.

So how much does it cost when you fill a vacany on minimum wage then put another British family on the dole because they cant get the job or cant afford to take it? How much does it then cost to keep that family and millions of others like them?

I don't know. But you're assuming that British people have the skills and desire to do every job, which they don't. East and Central Europeans have taken a lot of jobs that British people see as being beneath them. Look at agriculture in Lincolnshire where British people won't work hard picking crops. If EU and other nationals were barred from working here there'd be a labour shortage in some industries as well as unemployment.

Then we should invest in our own not throw them on the dole!
