Yorkshire multi-millionaire businessman backs UKIP

Recommended Posts

I suppose a lot could be done anonymously, but then what would we have called Jessops hospital or Graves park.......

I'm not saying donations should be given anonymously, I wouldn't hand over £1.5 million of my cash (even if I had it) without making sure the whole world knew about it!

But the reasons for public philanthropy are usually more about self aggrandisement than they are charity, so my point is Sykes donation to the hospital that treated him isn't necessarily an indication of him having any empathy with the 'working man'.

What do people like James Goldsmith, Rupert Murdoch and Paul Sykes all have in common?

They have all used their vast fortunes and changed their political alliance to try to get the result they wanted in past elections.

Does Jim Smith who lives down the road and got nowt have any influence?

It has been claimed that Paul Sykes has donated at least an estimated £6 million to eurosceptic campaigns even £500,000 to Denmark's successful anti-euro campaign.

How much has Jim Smith given?

His sweat, but if he had millions you'd hope he would also use his influence for the good.

Don't we all try and get the result we want by voting?

Some people do a bit more than just voting, like canvassing, becoming politicians or offering financial support.

Unions offer financial support to Labour to get the result they want, but in their case that support won't be representative of all their members.

If Sykes wants to offer financial support to UKIP because they best represent the direction he wants to see this country going, then good luck to him....We all have our own reasons for supporting/voting for various political parties.

He won't be standing in your constituency.

Your perception or fact?

He supported Thatcher in the 80s. What do you think?

Au contraire, UKIPs popularity is already changing things, which is why the Tories are saying they will hold a referendum (they're lying though).

The Tories' policy is to stay in Europe. And as you admit that they're lying then you're contradicting your own argument that they've changed a policy when as you say they haven't at all.
