jfish1936
A lot of cost to the NHS comes from the demands of old people. Why pay out a lot to keep old guys like me ticking on in uselessness, when that money could be spent on ensuring good health in the young? Maybe, if I had to pay, I'd seek medical advice less often. nickymouse
The other thing is, people that don't pay for prescriptions will presumably be exempt from any other charges like opticians and dentists now. This means that people who do pay will be hit both ways, how can that be fair?
Obelix
Whiteowl posted the link - they're just ideas from a think tank. Oh I guessed they would be, but Anna isn't presenting it that way.
LeMaquis
Plans are afoot to start charging patients £10 a time to see their doctor. Whiteowl posted the link - they're just ideas from a think tank. In other words there are no plans afoot. I hope no one tells Anna B that the world is about to end. Obelix
That's because their bills are, often as not, for 3 figures or more, and debt collection procedures are worthwhile at that level. They're eminently not worthwhile for £10. Adjustment of tax code will work :-)
Anna B
In other words there are no plans afoot. I hope no one tells Anna B that the world is about to end. Just a turn of phrase that's all. I'm merely interested to know what people think.

Changing the attribution from a think tank to smearing the Govt is quite a turn of phrase. How convenient for you that you managed to get a dig in - but it does beg the question why anyone should trust you in future if you are not going to correct your "turn of phrase"
spilldig
How about if my appointment is at 10 am and they see me at 1130 am, paying me an hour and a half's money for the waste of my time ?
Redyam
Seeing your Doctor should be free, but if you miss your appointment without telling them, they should fine you £50.
