banjodeano
What is it with Chinese people wearing masks in the UK.? I was out walking in the Derbyshire countryside and even saw someone with one on. I can understand it in a city, but out in the countryside.? Jason Bourne
Isn't a courtesy / hygiene thing? If they are suffering from cold or flu, they will cover their faces with a mask so they don't cough their lungs up all over you.
SevenRivers
The far east has experienced virulent diseases such as SARS and bird flu which possibly makes them oversensitive to germs.

Pritt Stick
Seen a couple on Eccy Rd. Is it that they don't want to pass on germs if they have a cold or are they covering up in flu season to avoid other's germs? If the latter I think gloves might be more efficient in steering clear of bugs.
Agent Orange
As someone else has already said, it's a common courtesy thing. They wear the masks as to not pass on their cold/flu
