Hull named City of Culture for 2017

Recommended Posts

Last time I went to Hull was a couple of years ago to get the ferry to go on holiday to France. There were several advertising hordings that we passed on the way into Hull proclaiming "Hull-Zebrugge ferry,The best night out in Hull" That doesn't say much about the delights available in Hull, does it?

Got to say I agree, London is the be all and end all according to all the media.

Indeed. It's becoming a serious problem, and unless something is done about it, it will end in disaster.

That's why awards like this are important.

hull city of culture!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha (etc) - it's dead funny - what a crap hole hull is - I love the drive in (go regularly) the beautiful humber bridge, one of the country's finest buildings - saw it in golden autumn light last week - then the old windmill, then the gorgeous old docks with the salty mucky smell of the estuary in the air.

unfortunately, you then get to hull.

good luck to 'em, god knows they need something to cheer em up, if there's anything interesting on I'll stay with my mate and have a look.

come to think of it - hull - crappy city of culture, get in!!

The only windmill I can think of in Hull is the one on the Holderness Road, bit of a funny way of getting to Hull from Sheffield if you're going that way frank.

I find Hull more pleasing on the eye, as a city centre, than Sheffield.

We may mock Hull but at least they got city of culture, unlike Sheffield. Remember what happened to that bid?! :D

If folk in Sheffield slag off Hull that won the City of Culture title, it doesn't say much for places like Sheffield which didn't.
