Hull named City of Culture for 2017

Recommended Posts

Mixed feelings.

I lived there for three years, and wouldn't think it had any culture whatsoever, but it does have cheap bars, cheap taxis, and was a good night out. Perhaps that qualifies as culture?

It also had Spiders, which was the best club ever. :)

Ah, and that's rather the point. "Hull - it's near some nice places". It's got The Deep as well I suppose. I didn't like it when I went but that was a few years back now.

Some people say similar when asked what they like about Sheffield.. "It's near the Peak District" :)

Was fantastic. Unfortunately, no more :(

Hull used to be pretty good back in the day... around the mid 90s. Not been back since, but I hear all the decent bars are gone and it's a bit of a ghost town now.

I was there so often when I lived there! It's the best club I've been to. Those drinks!!

Only place I could get a pint and whiskey chaser for under £1.80. Surprised I survived my time there. Pan galatic blaster?

It's gone!? :o Genuinely sad about that! That was my club of choice in my youth (also mid-90s!)

I quite liked the wiggly worm and that chocolate milkshake one. You'd get a pint of these things, ridiculously strong, for about a quid! :)
