Hull named City of Culture for 2017

Recommended Posts

Me and a mate went to Hull on a whim a few weeks ago, my first visit, have to say I absolutely loved it, what a really nice place. Masses of building work going on in the city centre but that didn't detract from the experience. Definitely going to visit when all the works due to finish in March

Was fantastic. Unfortunately, no more :(

Hull used to be pretty good back in the day... around the mid 90s. Not been back since, but I hear all the decent bars are gone and it's a bit of a ghost town now.

Only place I could get a pint and whiskey chaser for under £1.80. Surprised I survived my time there. Pan galatic blaster?

Pink Pugsley was my Spiders tipple. Think alcoholic milkshake. We used to sneak in underage back in the 80s (when we could persuade someone's parents to give us a lift into Hull from the deepest, darkest East Yorkshire hinterland). Sad to hear Spiders is no longer.

I have not been to Hull for years. Hull suffered badly from the fishing being regulated from the EU. I last went to Hull to visit The Deep which I thought was really good except for the cafe which was abysmal both in the atmosphere and the food. I hope that has improved.
