GLASGOWOODS
I bet some forummers are salivating at the prospect of using this case as a stick to beat other religions/cultures with. But melthebell and boyfriday would be redundant, without the frothy brigade frothing...

Too early in the investigation. Although they have been released on bail.

Maz3
I notice they haven't released the names of those arrested. I wonder what they are trying to hide away? Common practice at this stage.
Bypassblade
What I find amazing and the same with American story when that broke, is how they managed to maintain such high security for so many years, or was it rule by fear?

crazybaby
The whole case is shocking & hard to believe that they were held captive for such a long time. One of the women had suffered a stroke but had been denied treatment. A psychologists report states they may never recover from their ordeal. 'They're quite traumatised ... but they're very relieved to be out. 'When I met them, it was a very humbling experience. They all threw their arms around me, and apart from crying enormously, they thanked the charity for the work Freedom had done in saving their lives.' The two people, a non-British couple, both 67, were held by police at a south London station last night have been released on bail, and it is unclear if they are back at their home. 'There are fears this is part of a wider abduction ring. There is an ongoing search of possible linked addresses, and for any bodies that might be concealed,' a police source said. A British woman was among three ‘deeply traumatised’ women who were rescued from the ‘ordinary’ house by police. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2511221/Slave-owner-couple-bailed-captive-women-freed-London-house-horrors-following-30-years-servitude-police-search-victims.html
melthebell
It has also emerged the couple suspected of keeping them as slaves were arrested in the 1970s. Police would not reveal the reason why the couple, both 67 and understood to be married, were arrested. Mr Rodhouse said one of the reasons the police had not revealed more information about the couple's arrest in the 1970s was because it must "take great care not to provide information that could lead to the identification of the subjects". He said the two suspects had been bailed as the investigation would be a long one and could take up to many months, but said they had not returned to the Lambeth property. The house has been subjected to a 12-hour search, with 55 bags of about 2,500 exhibits seized. more info.............
