Alcoblog Posted November 22, 2013 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Whitby would be my choice, but as Mel points out (and he should know) gets pretty quiet this time of year. Having said that, me and O/H rented a cottage there over Christmas a couple of years back and it was fantastic. Flying kites on a deserted snow-swept beach on Christmas day (bit like a Vettriano painting!) then back to the cottage for dinner in front of a roaring open fire (we'd taken Christmas decorations with us too!). Whitby was deserted, mainly due to the roads being impassable, but hey ... we had fun! We stayed again this summer but it was packed and pretty tacky ... it's much better in the winter!
