Bible - Fiction?

If God was so great and almighty powerful why hasn't he contributed to this thread, you know, just to prove a point or provide succour for his followers.

Seems like a pretty weak God that can't even be bothered to contribute to a forum when years ago he was creating planets and life and light and suchforth.

Maybe he or she has just got lazy or has moved on to better things.

Not forgetting that an omnipotent God could be lazy and still be able to do everything all at once. :)

lol....You don't know that at all.

I'm certain we will never know, as in you and I.

Just let people believe what they want without idiots mocking them.

If we are to allow everyone to believe what they want, then surely that would also apply to people that believe mocking someone is harmless, so shouldn't be discouraged. The time to worry is when atheists start killing theists because of their beliefs.

Then worry as this time is upon us:

‘Militant Atheist’ Accused of Savagely Beating Pastor Inside His Own Church After Sunday Service

And on the flip side:

Man found guilty of murdering atheist friend in argument over existence of God

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/man-found-guilty-of-murdering-atheist-friend-in-argument-over-existence-of-god-8800132.html

However, read the article and you find:

Douglas Yim, who now faces 126 years to life in prison when sentenced in November, killed 25-year-old Dzuy Duhn Phan in April 2011 after a night of drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana and snorting cocaine.

Mr Phan also raised the subject of Yim's father's death from a stroke at which point a furious Yim hurled the console controller at the television and retreated to his bedroom to fetch an assault rifle. He returned to the room with his AR-15 rifle and shot Phan, who was reportedly an atheist, six times.

So lets not just blame religion here.

Or even more worrying, when atheists start killing theists because of their absence of belief

Are you trying to say that the guy beat the pastor because of his "atheist" beliefs?

From your link...

The 57-year-old preacher apparently drew the ire of James Maxie, 28, after asking the man’s girlfriend after the service if Maxie was abusing her"

“I questioned his girlfriend in his presence if she felt safe,” Hayes told the station. “He was very, very upset that I’d even suggest that he would hurt her. Then he turned around and hurt me very badly.”

Also from the same link...

It is also unclear where the “militant atheist” label originated, though a Facebook profile that appears to belong to Maxie shows he has “liked” atheist fan pages and regularly posts images promoting a secular worldview.

In contrast, the other story you linked to, where the theist killed the atheist, WAS possibly related to the theists's beliefs in God
