cuttsie
I'm not sure it's as big as I was expecting but the size isn't bad, and besides the smaller it is, the easier it will be to keep out the cheap tat that would potentially dirty the place up with the undesirables. Reminds me a little of the little market bit in the Arndale centre in Manchester. Who are the undesirables.

Bypassblade
Who are the undesirables. I would imagine they mean the "great unwashed", the unemployed mate.

Anyone not on the same payscale, educational or social level as they think they are. On another note I saw one cobblers, but it was tiny. What happened to the fantastic heel bar at Castel market, did they not transfer? That was one of the best stalls in the whole market.

I said the other day tigger, reading lots on here you'd think they were related to Liz @ Buck house, with loads of dosh and went to school at Eton. SkyeEdge
The heel bar was transferring but I think outside of the market in one of the shop units - I picked up one of their postcards before Castle Market closed - but I can't find it now! ryder8904
Popped in the new markets today and I have to say it felt so much nicer than castle market (as it would). The whole Moor felt pretty alive and actually seems to be developing for the better for once. Lots of variety of shops in the markets, and the butchers all looked very good quality at decent prices. BEDROCK
Been in again today and bought a mixed fish salad for £1.75 with seafood sauce on, cannot wait to eat that soon. Had a good chat with the woman at the information point in the middle, she said that the fair share of people who spoke to her were moaning about things not looking the same as Castle, good grief, we both said that they were just old folk stuck in their ways and that the new market will now start to cater for new clients meaning younger folk and things like that. She said that she worked at Castle for around 20 years and that yesterday was quite overwhelming but as she goes on it will get better, I think she is working alone at the counter so I told her that the owners need to employ another counter assistant to keep her company and for security reasons as well, she needs her breaks, the counter also needs a computer set up and somewhere you can get information easily. She said that there is an Italian booked to come in to take one of the food outlets which is a good sign, I said they needed a Chinese noodle place as well, I suggested they try and persuade some of the continental market holders who frequent Fargate to take some units, she said they may be too specialised, I said that round German one with the sausages would be an excellent addition. She did say to me that there is communication with the owners and that they are taking on board people's concerns, hope this is not a smoke screen but something they need to take notice of, either way the more units they get in the better. I did count 4 standard English food outlets, there is a Russian, halal, burrito and Jamaican outlet, that is 4 x 4 so if an Italian is also going in, the standard food outlets will be outnumbered, that cannot be a bad thing. Agent Orange
Just been and had a look... not bad. A vast improvement on the previous market, that's for sure.
juniee
try walking around the area, there are two chinese resturants, a soya express bar, a mexican street takeaway three cafes, four if you include atkinsons downstairs coffee bar, two chip shops brendas at the back and the one at the bottom of the moor, cannot think of its name, theres a greggs to sit in, if that is your style a subway nearer the bottom so do not think that the area is short of places to eat
