cuttsie
90 stalls? I was there today and there are nowhere near 90 stalls in the pedestrianized bits. I doubt if there are half that number. Stop telling lies. Tuesday is not a full Market day Go on Monday or Wednesday , its an out door Market different days different goods and stalls. Did you see the wrecking ball??????///// ,where about's was it ??????, I will count the stalls tomorrow if it's a fine day.
bazjea
The outside market has been moved to the main shopping street incorporating around 90 stalls. As to demolition non at the moment on the main Market Hall so perhaps you can enlighten us as where the bulldozer is working???????. The Market is due a refurb but will not be moving from its traditional area although it has only been there a mere 700 years. Stop telling lies. The main Market Hall that is due for refurbishment was built in the 1960s. Not 700 years ago.Stop telling lies

Not 700 years ago.Stop telling lies Never said it was ,A Town's Market is A Town's Market no matter how many Halls have stood on the spot. Is that clear enough or are you just backing up your pals;) Just out of interest I have been on the official Barnsley Council Web site. It states 100 out door stalls. 110 indoor, established 700 years , It's there in black and white not telling lies ,honest. lil-minx92
and now the new moor market is an expensive £60 million pounds ,of tax payers money , that no one is using It's clear that the general consensus is that SCC failed to deliver a decent new market development. At least they haven't decided to take on the massive Sevenstone development themselves. Oh wait...

rossyrooney
Even the fabulous Donny Market is losing tenants fast despite having oodles spent on it, markets are dying out with the market generations. Out of town Malls, supermarkets, shopping centres, internet shopping sites are all new competition that the markets had no answer to, we are witnessing the demise of the market hall as we know it and in my opinion the only way they will keep functioning is to become groups of specialists offering groups of high class specialist products at reasonable prices instead of out of date biscuits and second grade fruit and veg. If market halls are dying it wasn't the brightest move by Sheffield council to spend £18 million building a new one.
Vegas1
But then they would have got pelters for leaving the old one in the state it was in. That was hardly a lick of paint to put right.
