JFKvsNixon
All parties have their embarrassments from their members and officials from time to time. It doesn't get much worse than Paul Flowers does it, the porn surfing drug taking bank bankrupting former Labour councillor and Labour advisor. Then we have the likes of Andy Coulson, previously part of Camerons inner circle, currently in the dock for phone hacking. Lib Dems had Lord Rennard in their ranks. None of LibLabCon are free of criminals. This Ukipper may have put his foot in his mouth, he may have said embarrassing things, so did Bloom, but at least they're not criminals. Maybe that can be UKIP's catchy slogan for the next election. We may put our feet in our mouths and say embarrassing things, but at least we're not criminals. Vote UKIP. charmer
Correct! I'm expecting to see a few stories like this to try and undermine UKIP's rise, but it won't put me off voting for them. Perhaps this article should be sent to Denis MacShane.....Give him something to read when he's at Her Majesty's pleasure......All parties have got them, although not all of them break the law. Regards Doom Yes UKIP's unparalleled rise from 0 seats in Government (out of 496 candidates) in the 2005 General Election to 0 seats in government (out of 558 candidates) in the 2010 General Election. A stratospheric rise if ever there was one. UKIP are going nowhere. Under our current voting system, it will be Labour or Conservatives for eternity. Phanerothyme
I really, really hope that UKIP wins a majority, just to see the look on Farage's face when he literally craps himself on live TV.
Waldo
Stuart Agnew said of women's ambition: 'Something gets in the way. It's called a baby.' Pity his own mom wasn't that little bit more ambitious...

Maybe they should all put up a rogues gallery of all their criminals on billboards across the nation, I doubt there is enough billboards around. tzijlstra
I hate to say I've seen it all before, but I have, due to the proportional vote system in the Netherlands (which I favour over first past the post, but that is another debate) we frequently get populist parties breaking into the big time as the result of a protest vote. The simple point to make is: They don't last. Populist parties are almost by definition based on the populist leader (Farage, Griffin, Wilders, Fortuyn) and populist leaders are almost always incapable of actually creating a large organisation like a political party without removing their ego from the equation. So the capable folks are turned away by the lack of input and the yes-men are left to try and put up a resemblance of dignity. Usually these yes-men are opportunists who seized the change when it came up without having a career background relevant to that opportunity. The Netherlands has had populist parties become the biggest, therefore forming a coalition to govern, and within months these parties would implode/explode, there is always some scandal round the corner, and frequently it is enough to turn 80% of the original voters away at a stroke. Their lack of intelligence than gets them voting the next populist in, but that is democracy for you.
Jeffrey Shaw
UKIP are going nowhere. Under our current voting system, it will be Labour or Conservatives for eternity. Nope. If Scotland goes away, it'll be chiefly Conservative Governments for the rest of us- unless UKIP takes hold.

charmer
Nope. If Scotland goes away, it'll be chiefly Conservative Governments for the rest of us- unless UKIP takes hold. So I say it will be either Cons or Lab. You disagree and say it will be Cons? I don't see how that is very different to what I said. Certainly not different enough to reject what I said! Scotland wont vote for independence anyway. With so much undersided, that wont be decided before the referendum (Oil, Defence, Currency, National Debt, Health Service etc) only the uneducated nationalists or the super rich nationalists will vote Yes. Jeffrey Shaw
And enables Labour to get in. No Scotland= no UK Labour Governments. Simple arithmetic, you see.
